The Donegal Bay Summer league is now two thirds completed and it is defending champion Darragj McCarter(Donegal Bay) who is top of the heap.

Darragh took a convincing win in the Road Race at Laghey breaking away and soloing to victory and in the process building a healthy 20 point gap in the overall standings but last year’s runner up Kirean Porter(Strabane/Lifford) closed the gap to just 10 points when he took third place on two consecutive weeks. Damien Reid(Donegal Bay) has moved up to 3rd overall and leads the Over-40s category.

Ted McCaffrey(Donegal Bay) is in 4th with U-16 rider Ronan McCauley(Donegal Bay) moving up to 5th after scoring a great victory at the Hill TT last week ahead of Christopher Birney(Sportactive). Kevin McGlynn leads the Over 50s and Siobhan Gallagher(Four Masters) leads the ladies.

Club Cyclists in Racing action

It has been another busy week of racing with cyclists taking part in races in Ballybofey, Castlefinn, Derry, Sligo & Omagh. Roger McCauley has been very busy taking 6th at the Maiden City Criterium in Derry and then finishing in the same position in Casltefinn the following night. He then won the A4 category at the Mooney Trophy in Sligo on Saturday before rounding off the week with another good performance in Omagh. We would like to wish Paul McCarter a speedy recovery after his crash at the race in Sligo when in with a great shot of victory.

A number of cyclists have been involved in leisure events recently, Willie John Gallagher, Francis Cassidy & Jonathon McCann all finished the Hills of Donegal sportive with Willie John completing the very tough 170km route.
