We have reached the halfway point of the Winter Showjumping League at Deane’s Equestrian Centre and the count down to the final now begins.

The riders were out in force this Sunday the 25th of January in order to get the required number of days to be eligible for the final.

Once again it was honours even in the Starter Stakes as Sarah Molloy and Dean Burgess both riding Yankee went clear.

Zoe Boyle on Dancer was unlucky not to go clear in the 40cm class as she had a run out at fence number 4.

Ally McClay on Meenarillagh was the only clear in the 50cm class with a lovely round of jump, she has been clear now for the last 4 weeks.

In the 60cm class Zoe Boyle was to improve on her previous round and picked up her first clear round rosette of the day. Lauren Bradley completed two double clears in this class as she rode both Jayzee and Emmett. Mona Vial on Roddy was once again clear on Roddy.

In the 70cm class Mona Vial on Roddy was the first to jump clear and that now makes it 4 weeks in a row she has been clear and takes her points total in the champion rider competition to 40 points. Ella Clancey on Millie and Rachel Moore on Missy were the next riders to go clear with lovely rounds. Lucy Stewart on Dedo started the round slowly and she was soon jumping with confidence and picked up a clear round rosette. She also joined Mona Vial on 40 points in the champion rider competition. Katie Long on Alistair had her hands full as he was full of excitement and couldn’t wait to get jumping but she handled it well and got a super clear round. Aine Hunter and Stephanie Greene were also clear with some great jumps.

The 80cm class was the largest class of the day and a total of 11 riders went clear. Kirsten Rice on Rambo jumped a great round to pick up another clear round rosette. Mona Vial on Roddy once again went clear to add to her growing pile of rosettes. Charlie Vial on Nacho was not to be out done and he jumped a superb round. This now puts Kirsten, Mona and Charlie on 40 points for the champion rider competition in this class. Lauren Bradley on Lacey was next in to compete and she completed a great round to pick up a well earned clear round rosette. Lucy Stewart continued her good run of form and added another clear round rosette. Katie Long on Alistair was once again in the rosettes. Father and daughter Stephen and Stephanie Green jumped two fantastic rounds

The 90cm class had Rachel Moore on Missy pick up her third clear round rosette of the day as she made the course look easy. She was joined by Kirsten Rice on Rambo and Patrick Hunter who both jumped great rounds.

The Winter League continues next Sunday the 1st of February and runs for four more Sundays. The same horse and rider combination must compete in 4 out of the 7 Sundays in order to be eligible for prizes on the Final Day. Thanks to our judge Bernie Hernon and scribes Cyndi Graham and Mary Rice and arena helpers who helped the show run smoothly.
