The Summer Showjumping competition concluded last Sunday at Deanes Equestrian Centre and we had to jump indoors again thanks the spell of wet weather continuing.

The Summer Showjumping competition concluded last Sunday at Deanes Equestrian Centre and we had to jump indoors again thanks the spell of wet weather continuing.

Congratulations to Patrick Hunter on Eurolady from Maghery who was our Summer League Champion Rider he was clear all the way in both the 80 and 90cm classes with a total points score of 60 pts.

In the Starter Stakes Calum Hoey on Silver from Fermanagh once again had two super rounds going clear on the day and winning the Leadrein Starter Stakes class. Amy Kelly and Hannah Jones from Fermanagh also went clear and had joint first in the Starter Stakes.

In the 50 cm class the pressure was on the riders as first, second and third places were up for grabs. Melissa Dilworth on Robbie and Kathie Boyle on Uisce went clear and claimed joint first place on the day. They were followed closely by Erin Keane and Micheala Barrett who came joint second on the day picking up faults for a wrong course. Well done to Lily Wilcocks who had a determined round and got her pony Howard over all the jumps.

The 60cms Class promised great jumping as several riders were in contention for the top prize to be decided by a jump off. In the first round Hannah Marie Slater on Ronin, Lauren Bradley on Jayzee and Shauneen Gallagher on Tibby all jumped clear and were into the jump off. The draw was made and Lauren Bradley was first to go she set the mark at 45.45 secs with an unlucky 4 faults on Jayzee. Next to go was Shauneen Gallagher who had plenty of support from the Kays Equestrian team on the side lines she set a slower time of 48.24 secs but more importantly was clear. Last up was Hannah Marie Slater who set off like a bullet and set a blistering time of 35.46 secs and clear to take first place.

In the 70 cms Class several riders put in superb rounds and made it into the jump off round. Lucy Stewart on Dedo was first into the arena she had her route planned to perfection and took all the short cuts to set a time of 33.42 secs and clear, Hannah Marie Slater on Ronin flew around the course but didn’t go clear and set a time of 37.03 secs and 4 faults, Shauneen Gallagher on Tibby was last in and set a good time of 42.12 secs and was clear. So first place went to Lucy Stewart, second to Shauneen Gallagher and third to Hannah Marie Slater.

Clear rounds went to Lauren Bradley on Jayzee and Cassandra McGee on Smokey.

The 80 cms Class saw all the riders picking up clear round rosettes but only three riders were eligible for the jump off for class prizes. Catherine Gallagher on Dawn were first in to test the jump off course and they set a good target going clear in a time of 39.29 secs. Patrick Hunter on Eurolady was next in and as he approached the first fence we knew it would be a quick round. Patrick set a time of 35.19 secs and clear to move into the lead. Last to go was Lucy Stewart on Dedo she had been around the jump off course already so could improve her time and with a great displays of jumping and tight turns went clear and set a time of 33.09 secs to take first place.

Clear Rounds going to Damaris Scott on Ebony and Cassandra McGee on her ponies Smokey and Gone with the Fairies.

In the 90cms Class Patrick Hunter was in a class of his own and the only one eligible for prizes. In the jump off course Patrick set a time of 34.95 secs taking first place both Lucy and Cassandra took part in the jump off jumping H.C. and Cassandra on Gone with the Fairies set the fastest time of the day of 31.85 secs.

Lucy Stewart on Dedo and Cassandra McGee on Gone with the Fairies picked up clear round rosettes.

In the 1m class Patrick Hunter on Eurolady took first place with another great round of jumping.
