Declan Boyle, the reigning Dunlop National Champion, will head the Donegal challenge in this weekend’s Circuit of Ireland Rally.
The Leitirmacaward man and his co-driver Brian Boyle, in a Subaru Impreza WRCS128 ,are seeded number two in the National section of the world famous rally.
Boyle is just one of three Donegal drivers taking part in the rally. They others are Donagh Kelly, from Frosses, and Declan Gallagher from Ardara.
Kelly, in a Ford Focus with Derryman Kevin Flanagan alongside him, are seeded just one place behind Declan and Brian Boyle. Boyle will be in car number 102 and Kelly in car number 103.
Declan Gallagher, a winner earlier in the year in Galway and his co-driver Ryan Moore from Letterkenny, in their Toyota Starlet RWD, are seventh seeds in the National section.
Donegal International winner Garry Jennings, from Kesh, Fermanagh and his Letterkenny co-driver Rory Kennedy in their Subaru Impreza, are the number one crew in the National Rally.
Letterkenny man Johnny Baird completes the Donegal line-up in the rally. He will once again call the notes for Wesley Patterson,in their Ford Escort R5.
Other big names challenging for national honours are former Donegal winner Derryman Eugene Donnelly and Paul Kiely, in a Mini Countryman WRC.
The Circuit of Ireland Rally is based in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter. The ceremonial opening is this evening (Thursday) with the stages taking place on Good Friday and Easter Saturday on the roads of Antrim and Down with the rally ending in Belfast on Saturday evening.
