Jason Quigley will take on Irish-American Howard Reece in his professional boxing debut at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
The Ballybofey middleweight learned of his opponent, who he will fight over four rounds, on Monday.
Florida-based Reece is 26 and has won twice, one of which came by knock-out, in his eight fights.
Quigley will face Reece in a middleweight bout on the undercard of the contest between Canelo Alvarez and Erislandy Lara.
As an amateur, 23-year-old Quigley won middleweight gold at last year’s Irish Daily Star Elite National Championships.
The Finn Valley boxer, whose father Conor is part of his coaching team, then won gold at last summer’s European Amateur Championships and followed that up with silver at the AIBA World Championships in October.
He signed for Oscar De La Hoya’s ‘Golden Boy Promotions’ in April - widely considered as the best stable in professional boxing.
Quigley had an open workout at the MGM Grand last night, Wednesday, a press conference tonight, Thursday, and will undergo a weight in on Friday.
