Pride of place last weekend went to the three club members who completed the Iron Man Triathlon in Lanzarote. Margaret Kelly, her husband Pauric Kelly and new member, John Conaghan, all successfully completed this notoriously tough event competing in 30 degrees heat with a strong breeze and over 2500 meters of climbing. The event involved a 3.2k sea swim,180k cycle and 42.2k run. They all posted great times and all members are very proud of their achievements.

Also on the international front junior member Christine Russell competed in Holland in an attempt to qualify for the Junior Olympics in China. Qualifying as an Irish representative was a great achievement but unfortunately she came off her bike and injured her shoulder. She remounted and finished 47th. Only the top 11 athletes in Europe qualified for the event in China in 2015.

On the home front, club members did well in the two 5Ks and the Fanad Duathlon. In Dublin, Anthony Sheridan did well in the Masters Swimming Championship showing that he can practice what he preaches

Over 100 triathletes have entered the Sprint Triathlon being held in Gartan on Saturday 31st of May.  Further details are on the club website www.letterkenny247.com and the Triathlon Ireland website www.triathlonireland.com
