The AGM of the 24/7 Traithlon Club was held on Friday, 10th in the Aura, Letterkenny, with a full review of the year and plans laid down for the incoming season. Over forty members attended. the meeting and the following posts were filled:
Chairman, Gavin Crawford; secretary Graham Parker; treasurer Alan O’Mahoney; website co-ordinator Colin Dean; Pro, Cathal Roarty. Committee members: Adrian Wasson, Mark McCollum, Margaret Kelly, Finn Begley, Lisa Dalton, Aidan Callaghan, Paul Doherty and Cillian Nulty.
The club will host three races in 2014 - a sprint duathlon on March 9; a try a tri pool based Triathlon in April and a sprint Triathlon in May in Gartan. All entries can be made through the triathlonireland website only and are open to everybody.
The club will be taking part in an inter club league based on the local duathlons in Letterkenny, Buncrana, Omagh and Limavady.
In the five mile race well organised by Letterkenny AC on Sunday the following members raced well - Martin Devenney 30.18, John Daly 30.23, Kevin Connolly 31.14, Kieran Coyle 33.28, Paul Lee 35.16, Noel Lynch 35.50, Charlie Gildea 36.19,
Cathal Roarty 36.55, Finn Begley 37.5, Ciaran Liddy 38.24 and Liam Tinney 39.22.
Also in Derry on Sunday club chairman Gavin Crawford finished second in the North West Triathlon 5k in 16.45 and is well placed to win the series overall following on from his first place in his previous race.
Training continues as follows - Wednesday 8 pm, coached swim session in Aura with six lanes catering for all levels; Thursday interval training Danny McDaid track and group bike ride leaving Aura at 9.30 sharp every Saturday morning, weather permitting.
