Eugene McBride put in a fantastic ride on Saturday to win the A4 race in the Donegal Bay Kermesse held in Mountcharles.
With 13 laps of a 6 km circuit that included a very fast technical descent and a very steep climb up through the village, Eugene broke clear by the half-way point and held on to claim a well deserved victory. In the A1/2/3 race Errigal’s Cormac Keeney made it a successful homecoming with a 3rd place finish.
On Wednesday night in Strabane, Eugene continued his good form with a 2nd place finish in the Donegal Inter Club League B Race whilst in the A Race, young Jordan McGinley rode a great race to take 2nd place.
Youths Race in Emyvale: A large number of the Errigal’s Youths travelled to Emyvale on Sunday for a series of youth races that attracted a very strong field. In the U12’s Odhran Doogan continued his recent good form with an excellent second place finish with team mates Cathal Gallagher and Donal Walsh in 3rd and 6th respectively, whilst Amanda Gallagher finished as first girl home. The U14 race saw Connor Gallagher from Covey Wheelers on a lone break from the start to win comfortably, and in the bunch sprint Conor Halvey won to take 2nd place with teammate PJ Doogan in 5th. The field in the U16 race stayed together for the duration resulting in a mass sprint for the line with a nasty crash occurring that brought down four riders. Luckily Errigal’s Ciaran McFadden and Ciara Doogan (1st Girl) finished in the top ten and avoided the chaos.
Tour Na Gaeltachta: Over 70 cyclists took part in Errigal’s Tour na Gaeltachta held last weekend and the club would like to thank Dore Community Centre and PCC Falcaragh for the use of their facilities. A great day was enjoyed by all as the tour took place over three different around the beautiful Donegal countryside.
