In a show of commitment to continuing their youth development programme Errigal will this year host a series of dedicated youth races that are included on the Cycling Ireland official race calendar.

To be known as the Errigal Youth League a series of four races will be held over the coming months with the overall winners being decided on a cumulative points basis, the races for U12’S, 14’S & 16’S will offer Donegal’s youth cyclists the opportunity to compete against the best in the Country on their own patch and a good turnout is expected in what the club hopes will become a popular fixture in the Irish race calandar.

The first race in the series will take place on Sunday 2nd March from 11am with the riders completing a number of laps of a circuit in the Letterkenny / Churchill area with the start and finish on the outskirts of Churchill village.

Team Time Trial

The Club are running a team time trial (30mls) on Sunday March 16th with sign on from 9.15 am at the Lagoon Bar in Termon and the first riders off sharp at 10.00am. Teams to be four riders with a maximum of 2A1/A2/A3 in each team (youth participants restricted to U14 and U16s), the time will be taken for the fourth cyclist across the line. Refreshment will be served in the Lagoon afterwards.

Club Weekend Runs

Once again there is an open invitation to anyone (including youths age 10+) interested in cycling to come along on the weekend club runs, we would again encourage more to join in this week starting on Saturday from the Annagry Car Park at 10 am and again on Sunday from the Atlantic Camp Site in Creeslough at 10am.

These runs are perfectly suited to those who wish to get involved in cycling with Errigal and offer beginners an ideal opportunity to meet and cycle with the club.

All that is required is a roadworthy (road) bike and a helmet.

The Saturday Club Training run will depart from Termon as usual at 8.00, this is suited to those riders interested in getting around that little bit faster.

A full schedule of future Sunday Club runs including detailed route maps is now available to view on the club website www.errigalcyclingclub.com.
