Twin Towns boxer Jason Quigley has progressed in the world boxing championships this morning after his victory over a Scottish opponent.

Twin Towns boxer Jason Quigley has progressed in the world boxing championships this morning after his victory over a Scottish opponent.

Fighting in the middleweight class, he made it two wins out of two for Ireland with a comprehensive win (30-27,30-27,29-28) over Scotland’s Aston Brown.

Jason, who is rated as the fifth seed in the championships, will now face number four seed, Zoltan Harsca of Hungary.

This quarter-final berthing now sees him with a chance to get into the medals.

Belfast fighter and Olympic medallist, Michael Conlon, also won his match against Mexico’s Brian Gonzalez by scores of 30-27,30-27,30-27 in the three rounds.

Conlon, who is number two seed, goes on meet to Russia’s Vladimir Nikitin on Wednesday.
