Paul O’Connell will be the guest of honour at Letterkenny Rugby Club’s annual dinner dance later this month.
The Munster, Ireland and Lions second-row will be attending as a guest of Kelly’s Toyota, who are the new sponsors of the Letterkenny RFC senior team.
The dinner dance will be taking place on Friday, September 20, in the Mount Errigal Hotel in Letterkenny.
Tickets are €50 each or €400 for a table of 10.
Letterkenny Rugby Club would encourage anybody with an interest in rugby to come along for a great night’s entertainment in the company of one of Irish Rugby’s greatest heroes.
‘This is a great year for Letterkenny rugby club as it is the 40thAnniversary of the founding of the club,” said Conor Lawless, the club treasurer.
“To have somebody of Paul O’Connell’s stature attend our annual dinner dance is a testament to the hard work that has been put in to developing the club over the past four decades into one of the leading clubs in the north-west.”
O’Connell is a two-time Heineken Cup winner - 2006 and 2008 - with his native province, Munster.
The Limerick native first appeared for Ireland in 2002, making his debut against Wales in the RBS Six Nations, and was part of Declan Kidney’s team that won the Grand Slam in 2009.
Thirty-three-year-old O’Connell is also a three-time Lion and was captain for the 2009 series in South Africa.
He was part of this year’s series winners, although fractured an arm in the first Test against Australia.
