Despite a blank at 10th, Conor managed 21pts on back nine to pip single handicapper Gerard Duffy [5] who, despite birdies at 1st, 8th and 11th and an overall gross score of 73, Gerard would rue that double bogey at 3rd. Following in third place and showing a good spate of form lately was MBH, Michael Boucher-Hayes [15] who no doubt lost out with those double bogey’s on each nine. In fourth place was the ever improving Hugo Daly [23] . Taking Gross on the day was Johnny Deeney [5].

In third place was Michael Shiel [23] with 39pts. Gross on the day was won by Darragh Mc Menamin.

Sun 29th: No doubt due to the high temperatures recorded of late, Sunday entries were very high also and leading the pack was Cat. 2. handicapper Seamus Mc Hugh [15] who, recording birdies at 8th and 14th, returned 21pts on the back nine and an overall 41pts. In second spot was single handicapper Don Ponsonby [7] who is hitting a rich vein of form at the moment. With the help of a birdie at 11th, Don recorded a level par gross 36 on back nine on his way to an overall 40pts. Following up on his 2nd placing on Sat. was Johnny Moore [19] returning 38pts.

McGinley again: The weather in Dunfanaghy this last week has been like an Indian Summer as the course has been packed with golfers enjoying the last of the summer sunshine. And very kind it has been to Neil McGinley who just keeps getting better every week. Neil is now playing so much better with his new clubs and putting with such confidence his handicap is taking quite a cut over the past few weeks. He is now back to single figures again and this makes it a little easier for his opponents in the Sunday 4 ball. Neil’s partner in Frank Kelly must be getting some rub off as Frank himself was only beaten into third place last Wednesday on BOT by Cyril Robinson.

Saturday>: Last Saturday saw the team of James Brogan and Roger Green take the honours and push Raymond Kelly and Nelson Dawson into second place by 1 point.

Past Captains: The Past Captains was also held last Saturday and Paul Burton came to the fore with a fine score of 39 points. Patrick Hunter picked up second place on 38 points but I was Patrick’s back nine that clinched it for him. With Patrick’s putts dropping from everywhere his back nine score of 25 points was easy. Third place was taken by Nigel Doherty on 35 points. Frank Kelly and James McCorkell won the respective nines.
