Good packing was the order of the day for the black and amber in the men’s race which was won by Conor McCaughey of Enniskillen RC - his time for the 6K distance was 19:03. Paul McGlinchey (10th in 20:30), Aidan Callaghan (11th in 20:39) and Brian Crossan (12th in 20:40) were the first three counters. Barry Meehan (30th in 21:59) completed the scoring team. Vital support was provided by Raymond Birch (37th in 22:24), Niall Barry (38th in 22:26), Aidan McKenna (42nd in 22:40) and Peter McGinley (59th in 23:56).

Enniskillen took the team title with 27 points, with Finn Valley second on 58 and Letterkenny third on 63.

Letterkenny AC’s Marie Boyle had a super race and was unlucky not to get among the medals when placing fifth in 16:38. The other scorers were Dara Dunne (16th in 17:34) and Emma McGee (17th in 17:36), with great support coming from Serena McDaid (27th in 18:40) and Catherine Regan (33rd in 19:30). Sarah Lindsay from Foyle Valley won the the race in 15:56 and led her team to told medals on 9 points from Rosses (23) and Finn Valley (26).

It was great to see so many black and amber vests in both championship races on Sunday. With so many runners putting in a big effort, hopefully more medals will be picked up over the winter months.
