The Joe Guilfoyle Perpetual Doubles Tournament in conjunction with the Ballyshannon Harvest Fair was completed on Sunday last, after the weather intervened two weeks earlier.
The finalists were Michael Temple and Sean Culleton against Kevin Byrne and Oisin Culleton (son against father).
It was the father who won out with Temple and Culleton snr too strong in the best of three, winning 21-2 and 21-10.
There to present the magnificent trophies provided by Ballyshannon native Joe Guilfoyne was Billy Grimes, who was representing the Harvest Fair Committee and also the Town Council.
Chief organiser of the Handball tournament Denis McGuinness thanked all who took part in what was a very successful Ballyshannon Harvest Fair event.
“The Club would like to thank all who helped, espe cially sponsor Joe Guilfoyle and the local players, who are taking up this great game.
“The side alley has recently been adapted for the Single Wall game, 20 x 30 with a new floor. This is a big addition to the game in Ballyshannon. The 20 x 30 game will be played at the Olympics and local can dream.
“Our thanks to the Town Council for helping out in the refurbishment, to John Meehan and Town Clerk, Mary Daly.
“We have had a wonderful summer of handball and long may it continue,” said Mr. McGuinness.
