Glen of Glenties brothers Connell and Jimmy Ward are currently making final preparations for their forthcoming trip to the World Games in Cali, Colombia.

Nine teams competed in the senior 680kg championship and Lakehill pulled very strongly to quality for the final where they met arch rivals, Boley from Wexford. The Knockmore team were very impressive as they defeated the Wexford men to win the gold medal and retain their title.
The Irish 700kg team in Colombia will be made up of six Lakehill pullers and will be joined by a member of the Boley club from Wexford and the Boyneside club in Edenderry to make up the eight man team to will be bidding for World Games glory.
This same Irish team produced an outstanding performance at last September’s World Championships where they won the gold medal defeating Sweden in the final. The strongest opposition in Cali will be the Swedish team whom they beat in last year’s final. Latvia, England, Netherlands and Switzerland make up the six who will fight for World Games glory on Saturday the 27th of July. Updates from Cali will be available on www.irishtug ofwar.com.
