Christy Galligan hosted his Captain’s Prize on Saturday for members of the Drum Bar Golf Society in Letterkenny.
And it was fitting that on this, the 10th anniversary year, the winner on the day was one of the founder members of the popular society.
Dave Moore helped set up the society back in 2003 and in the 10 years since, it has grown into one of the most popular golf groupings in the county.
Its success is of course, down to the members who continue to turn out in high numbers to each and every outing.
So was the case on Saturday last when they played Ballybofey and Stranorlar Golf Club on captain, Christy’s big day.
Christy got the morning off to the perfect start by treating all the members to breakfast on arrival at Ballybofey and Stranorlar. Then it was down to the golf, and in the end it was Dave Moore who came good with a brilliant 38 points to take the win.
Mary Rose Dullaghan produced another impressive card to take the ladies’ prize.
The society members extend thanks to their captain, Christy for a hugely enjoyable day and also to the staff at Ballybofey and Stranorlar GC for their hospitality. Thanks to Cormac Gallagher and family as well for their continued support.
The presentation of prizes took place in the Drum Bar on Saturday night at which a big crowd attended.
The results were: 1st, Dave Moore, 2nd Dave Sumner, 3rd, Peter McGrath; Ladies, Mary Rose Dullaghan;
Front 9, Oliver Moran, Back 9, Liam Rodgers; Nearest the Pin, Dave Moore; Longest Drive, Paul Dolan; Category 1, Pat Loughnane, Cat. 2, Hughie Kelly and Cat. 3, Jimmy (Busty) McMonagle.
