Lifford kick-boxer Ronnie Brenann is the new WKA Irish 60 kg champion after he was declared champion on Friday night in Cookstown.
Brennan was crowned champion after receiving a walkover on when his opponent Peter Hamill from Lurgan, was forced to withdraw with food poising.
“It was a terribly disappointing not to get the fight because Ronnie had trained extremely hard for the last eight weeks,” said his coach Tommy ‘the Ghost’ McCafferty.
“But it was good that he was declared the champion because he deserved it. He has already beaten a number of the top fighters at his weight including Chris Lusley, the current ISKA Northern Ireland champion at 60 kg.”
It is expected that Brennan will defend his title later this year at a big fight night in Letterkenny.
