Boyles first Donegal crew in Monaghan

Declan and Brian Boyle, in their Escort, were the first Donegal crew to hit the ramp on Sunday evening at the end of the Monaghan Stages Rally.

Despite problems right through the day the Leitirmacaward driver finished in a very impressive sixth position and won class 14.

Muff driver Joe McGonigle with Ciaran Geaney calling the notes finished in 15th place and took the top position in class 6 in their Citroen C2R2.

Other Donegal drivers that finished well up the field were Barry McGill and Paul Clarke in their Escort to win class 9 in his Escort.

Adrian Cannon and Paddy McCrudden, in their Honda Civic, had another good rally and won class 2, with Stephen Bradley and Graham Henderson, also in Civic, taking second place in the class.

Mark Ewing and Rachel McConnell won class 3 with Seamus Doherty and Peter Byrne, Daniel Connaghan and Terrence McGee, Darragh Doherty and Darragh Kelly, Trevor and Thomas and Eileen McGlinchey all finishing the event.

The rally was won by Danial McKenna and Andrew Grennan in a MK2 Escort followed by Sam Moffet and James O’Reilly in an Mitsubishi in second place and Maurice Moffett and Jason Mc Kenna in their Toyota, who were third.
