Donnagh Kelly and Kevin Flanagan were the first Donegal crew to take the ramp in the Mayo Stages Rally, in Claremorris, on Sunday evening.
The Frosses crew in their Mitsubishi EVO 9 had a fine run to finish in third place behind winners Niall Maguire and Enda Sherry, in a Subaru WRC, who were first and Kevin Barrett and Sean Mulally, who were second.
Overall it proved to be a good rally for Donegal crews with Donegal Town’s Trevor and Kenny Bustard, in a Mitsubishi, also inside the top team with Columba Heena and Leonard Craig, from Ardara, in a Corolla just outside the top ten in 11th place.
Trevor and Kenny Bustard finshed in sixth place and won Group N.
The Dungloe pair of Patrick McHugh and Padraig O’Donnell, in an Escort were also on the pace and had a good event to finish in 16th position and were third in Class 13, while Joseph McGonigle and Ciaran Geaney, in their Citreon R2 were 20th overall and should have been happy with their days rallying.
Conor Watters and Trevor Graham, in an Escort finished 23 rd, with Adrian Cannon and Paddy McCrudden, Honda Civic two places further back in 25 th spot and won Class 2.
Barry McGill and Derek Heena, Escort 28th, were also class winners they won Class 9, while Pauric McGee and Dean Sullivan, in a Civic were 31st and were second in Class 2 and P.J. Bonner and Patrick McHugh, Civic came third in Class 2.
