Mooney and Finnegan in the medals in Cardiff

Letterkenny AC pair Daniel Mooney and Ruairi Finnegan were on the podium at the Celtic Cup Indoor International in Cardiff at the weekend.

Letterkenny AC pair Daniel Mooney and Ruairi Finnegan were on the podium at the Celtic Cup Indoor International in Cardiff at the weekend.

Mooney won the 800m race in a time of 1.52 minutes to take the gold medal while his club colleague Finnegan finished third in the 1500 metre race, in a personal best time of 3.48.65 minutes.

Meanwhile Letterkenny AC’s Maria McCambridge won the women’s race at the annual John Treacy 10 mile Road Race in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford on Sunday afternoon.

McCambridge ran the race in a time of 55.58 to smash the course record by 30 seconds to come home ahead of Lizzie Lee, who was second in a time of 57.30 minutes.

Also on Sunday, Teresa McGloin, Finn Valley AC, was second woman home in the AXA Raheny 5 Mile Road race in Raheny, Dublin.

McGloin finished in 59th place overall in a time of 27.22 minutes just over a minute behind leading lady Linda Byrne, who came 35th overall in a time of 26.23 minutes.
