Donegal athletes are this weekend in action in the National and Ulster Indoor championships at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast.

While Mark English and Darren McBrearty, first and second last year in the 800m, will not be present, Mary McLoone of Tirconaill AC will lead the charge for senior honours. She will defend her triple jump title and will also hope to add the long jump, in which she finished second last year.

Young Letterkenny pair Ruairi Finnegan and Daniel Mooney will contest the 1500m race while last week’s All-Ireland Masters’ cross-country winner, Ciaran Doherty of Letterkenny AC will be contesting the 3,000m race.

There will be plenty of interest for all Donegal clubs as the Ulster indoor championships are being held in conjunction with the nationals and all clubs in the county will have numerous athletes taking part.
