The heavy frost over the last few days has severely impacted on golfing activities around the county.
However, there's still plenty happening with almost every club in Donegal offering the chance for members to win their Christmas dinner in their Turkey Competitions.
Here's the news from the county's clubs:
Christmas Hamper: Sunday, 4th December will see the members of Portsalon golf club contest for the traditional Christmas hamper. All members who wish to participate should record their names on the time sheet. A draw for tees will take place and all names must be submitted by 6 p.m on Saturday 3rd. As in previous years, this will be a shot gun start at 10:30am.
Upstairs are doing a special Christmas Lunch for players at a wonderful cost of €15 for a four course meal. Pre-booking on this offer is necessary.
Christmas Gift Ideas: The Portsalon Golf Shop is where both members and visitors can purchase many of their golf requirements. It may also be the place to purchase the perfect Christmas gift for your golfing partner. Gift vouchers for Portsalon Golf Club can also be purchased in the Portsalon golf shop.
Results: Due to adverse weather conditions on Saturday night the course was closed on Sunday.
A big thank you to Frank Casey, Rosapenna Golf Resort,who allowed Portsalon members to play the Sandy Hills Course on Sunday.
Fixtures: On Saturday, 26th Nov there will be an open gents stableford competition. On Sunday 27th Nov it's a members competition and on Wednesday 30th Nov a gents open competition. A time sheet is in operation for all competitions contact 0749159459.
Mulroy Links: The Mulroy Links was staged at Portsalon on Saturday. In the nett section the winner was Noel Nicholl (16) 40 points, runner up Oisin Friel (20) 37 points, 3rd Michael Leonard (10) 36 points BOT, 4th Kevin Mc Bride (17) 36 points.
In the gross section the winner was John Shields (5) 34 points, runner up John G Mc Bride (0) 31 points, 3rd Noel Callan (0) 29 points, 4th D P Logue (5) 29 points. The next outing of the Mulroy Links will be staged at Rosapenna Golf Resort on Saturday, 3rd December and at Portsalon Golf Course on Saturday, 10th December

The Glenties Golf Society are holding their Christmas Hamper outing in Narin Portnoo this Saturday, 26th November with tee booked from 9am to 10am. Draw for partners at 8.45am.
Haiti Charity event
A 14 hole competition in aid of Gina Herrity Charity will take in Narin Portnoo on Friday, 25th November with tee booked from 10am to 11am. Prizes sponsored by Harbour Bar Society. Ladies and Gents welcome.
On Sunday the Christmas Hamper was played for over the Old Tom Morris Links and the winner was Shaun Boyce (9) with 38pts, the runner up was Raymond Doody (13) with 37pts. The gross winner was Con Boyce with 31 gross pts. Third place was Pete McBride Snr (17) with 36pts bot.
The front nine winner was Denis McBride with 18pts and the back nine winner was Michael Bradley Jnr with 22pts. CSS 36pts.

The Christmas Mini Hamper will be played for on Sunday, November 27th over the Old Tom Morris Links.
Winter Scramble Series: The first of the Winter Scramble Series will take place this Saturday, November 26th over both championship links. There will be a shotgun start at 11am and all players are asked to check in no later than 10.15am in the Golf Pavilion.
Mulroy Links: The fourth outing of the 2016/17 Mulroy Links took place at Portsalon Golf Links last Saturday with the results as follows:

The turkey competitions continue despite recent challenging conditions. The latest results for the last two weeks are as follows:
Playing the front nine, Marian Keating scored 18pts (bot), the runner-up was Anne Condon also on 18 pts.
It was Cathy Marren's turn to bag a turkey playing the back nine scoring 17 pts, closely followed by Marian O'Sullivan on 16 pts.
Staying with the back nine Celine Bradley was the winner of her second turkey scoring 18 pts (minus 1). Marian O'Sullivan was her nearest rival with 13pts (bot).

The above turkey winners and the hamper winners will receive their prizes at the Christmas party on December 2nd. Finally on a sad note the ladies club wish to extend their deepest sympathy to past Captain Marian Keating on the death of her father Thomas Minihan in Limerick.
Michael O'Dwyer won the Doherty Wood Products Ltd sponsored competition at the weekend, young Michael shooting a solid 42pts. Michael beat the competition sponsor himself into second place with Brendan shooting 41pts. In third was James Sweeney with 39pts. The nines went to Nicky Doherty with 21pts and Scotch John with 24pts. This week's category went to Tony Gallagher with 37pts. CSS was 38pts.

The Society's third outing for the 2016/17 season was held in Portsalon Golf Club.
Autumnal sunshine set against the fantastic backdrop of Portsalon GC along with some tricky pin positions provided the Society with a very enjoyable and entertaining day’s golf. Our thanks to everyone who came along and to Portsalon GC for their hospitality.
