The Finn Valley Area announced at a recent meeting that they will be affiliating to Community Games this year.
Ann Slevin stated that a committee had been formed and that they were looking foward to taking part in a number of the 40 sporting and cultural activities. The Ballybofey area was previously involved in the games ten years ago and the County committee welcomes the new area.
New areas wishing to join should contact a committee member and note that it is free to affiliate for the first year. All areas must affiliate on-line this year.
The Development Committee is available to meet all areas. It was stated at the meeting that all members must be Garda vetted and have completed a child-protection course. The vetting forms must be signed by the area Secretary and fowarded to the Childrens Officer, Bernie O'Callaghan, 20 The Waterfront, Killybegs.
The Committee is delighted to announce that the Donegal Creameries will continue to sponsor the games this year. Sales Director Breid Lindsay said the Company was delighted to be involved in the organisation which has over 600 areas involved nation wide with thousands of children involved.
National Director Bernie Brennan stated that the games had a new logo in place and that Independent Newspapers would be highlighting Community Games during the year. National President, Gerry Davenport said that the National AGM will be held in Waterford on the 4-5th March, the delegates are Catherine Boyce, Bernie O'Callaghan and Tony McCarry.
