Fined €1,000 for no insurance

A defendant who was driving without insurance and a valid driving licence was disqualified from driving and fined €1,000 at the recent sitting of Ballyshannon District Court.

A defendant who was driving without insurance and a valid driving licence was disqualified from driving and fined €1,000 at the recent sitting of Ballyshannon District Court.

In evidence Garda Paul White told the court that he stopped a green BMW driven by Aurimas Balentis of Sheegus, Ballyshannon at Abbeylands, Ballyshannon on March 12 last.

He asked the defendant for his insurance and driving licence and the defendant indicated that he did not have these documents.

The court was told that he had a number of previous convictions under the Road Traffic Act.

Judge Kilrane convicted, imposing a fine of €1,000, and disqualified the defendant from driving for four years.
