Following on the success of the recent Donegal Live tourism promotion in Glasgow once again tourism providers in the county will celebrate all that Donegal has to offer to the visitor at this tourism promotion event on Sunday 22nd May in the Iveagh Gardens, Dublin just immediately after Queen Elizabeth’s visit to Ireland.
Speaking to the Donegal Democrat from the Camden Court Hotel in Dublin yesterday morning, Paul McLoone of Failte Irl. said, “The Minister of Tourism, Leo Varadker has just announced this morning and we are all extremely optimistic and excited about the event.
“Dublin will be full of both media and visitors as a result of the Queen of England’s visit and the later Obama visit.
“We have already compiled a list of all visiting media from all over the world who will be in Dublin at the time and have invited them all to a good Donegal party in the Iveagh Gardens.
“This provides us with an unprecedented opportunity to showcase Donegal on a world stage and from a marketing perspective, it is simply priceless.” he said.
Live music, song and dance will be on offer for all to enjoy from 12.00noon – 6.00pm and a number of Donegal artists will perform throughout the day to entertain the many expected visitors including Moya Brennan, Mickey Joe Harte, Boxtie, The Perfect Mix and many more.
Up to twenty tourism sectors will be represented to showcase the many quality attractions, activities, events and hospitality options that Donegal has to offer including: Equestrian, Golf Clubs, Adventure Sports, Attractions, Islands, Gaeltacht & Irish Colleges, Self Catering, Hotels, B&B, Hostels, Marine Tourism/Angling, Tour Donegal, Festivals, Events & Theatre, Hill Walking, Retail, Guesthouse, Getting to Donegal and Crafts.
This year Donegal Food Coast will be providing samples of the best in Donegal cuisine supported by Donegal County Enterprise Board.
This major tourism initiative is created and funded by the Donegal Association in Dublin, Donegal Tourism Ltd., Failte Ireland North West, Donegal County Council, Donegal Local Development Company under the Rural Development Programme, Bundoran Town Council and Letterkenny Town Council.
Tourism bodies in the county are urging everybody tell all their family, friends, colleagues and neighbours in Dublin and the East Coast region to come along on the day to sample the quality events, attractions, activities and accommodation options the county has to offer
