With less then a month to go now for the bi-annual Bluestack Challenge which this year is being sponsored by Harvey’s Point, the Donegal Association Dublin have made a very worthwhile donation to this very worthwhile charity.

Last weekend members of the association travelled to the lakeside hotel outside Donegal Town and presented a cheque of €3700 to committee members of the Bluestack Challenge.

The cheque represents the proceeds of a charity raffle at the recent Donegal Association Gala Ball in the Burlington Hotel Dublin which honoured the Donegal Person of the Year 2010, the world renowned playwright Brian Friel.

Tony Dunlevy (Mountcharles) President of the Donegal Association in Dublin commented that the association was very conscious of the difficult environment for charitable organisations in Donegal and he stated that the Donegal Association was delighted to support the Bluestack Foundation.

Emmet McCauley from the Donegal Association commented that the association was also working very hard to close the ‘perceived’ distance between Dublin and Donegal.

He highlighted the ‘Donegal Live’ event in the Iveagh Gardens in Dublin next Sunday (22nd) as a positive and pro - active initiative to support the tourism sector in the County.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to highlight the wide range of activities and the quality and choice of the accommodation available in the county and also a great opportunity for potential tourist to enjoy the friendless and traditional charm of the Donegal people.

“We are inviting all Donegal people with family members, students, relations or friends to become ‘An Ambassador for Donegal’ and join in this celebration of everything Donegal in the Iveagh Gardens on Sunday.

“It provides us to showcase the county to not only many people along the East coast but also to the many visitors to the capital this weekend.

“Even if you can’t make it to the Iveagh Gardens perhaps one of the best opportunities to see the beauty of the Donegal Hills is the upcoming Harvey’s Point Bluestack challenge on the 18th of June.”
