Gaoth Dobhair Couple 50th Wedding Anniversary

Congratulations to Mr. Billy and Mrs. Rosie Ferry, Lunniagh who celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary last week. They were married in St. Colmcille Church, Cnoc Fola on the 26thOctober, 1966. Billy is originally from Cnoc Fola while his wife Rosie Owenie Thomáis Bhig [née Coll], hails from Lunniagh. Their nuptial mass was celebrated by Fr.McAteer who was cuate in Cnoc Fola at the time. The bestman was Muiris Ferry [Billy’s cousin] while the bridesmaid was Sheila Coll now McFadden [ Rosie’s sister]. The pageboy was Pól Ó Fearraigh, Lunnniagh a neighbour of the bride. Their reception was held in the former Errigal View Hotel, Derrybeg and afterwards they spent their honeynoon in Galway and in Killarney. Billy and Rosie have a family of seven, Séamus in Tipperary, twins, Maureen and Bríd in Gaoth Dobhair, Eugene, Cnoc Fola, Vincent, Carrick, Liam in Letterkenny and Ciarán in Lunniagh. They also have seventeen grand children and two great grand children. All the family gathered together on Saturday evening to celebrate the occasion which was held in Teach Jack, Glassagh. Among those present was Muiris Ferry who was the bridesmaid, but sadly the bridesmaid, Sheila McFadden now living in London was unable to attend the celebrations. Billy and Rosie are wished many more happy and healthy years together.
