Inquest told how brave Dungloe woman helped others before she died from injuries sustained in accident
Our front page today tells how a Donegal lay missionary helped colleagues involved in a road accident in Ethiopia before she died of injuries she sustained in the crash.
The accident happened in 2005.
A coroner's court heard yesterday how Joyce Campbell (pictured) from Meenmore, Dungloe displayed remarkable bravery in July 2005 when the accident happened while she was on a visit to Ethiopia teaching English with the Vincentian Lay Missionaries.
She died about two hours after the Land Rover she was travelling in left the road and fell into a ravine.
The inquest at Letterkenny coroner’s court heard that she had helped two Irish men injured in the accident from the ravine and into a truck which took them to hospital. Joyce died in the truck before they reached hospital.
