It's down to the wire for fifth seat in Donegal

Thomas Pringle, independent TD, is expected to edge out Pádraig MacLochlainn, Sinn Féin TD, for the fifth and final seat in the Donegal constituency.

Candidates and supporters are awaiting an announcement in the 13th count in Letterkenny, as the 251-vote surplus of Fine Gael's Joe McHugh is being distributed.

Going into the 13th count, there were just 36 votes between the two outgoing TDs, with Deputy Pringle at 9,888 and Deputy MacLochlainn at 9,852.

It was suggested earlier that either camp may call a recount if the final margin is close enough.
