A county councillor is calling for walking and cycling paths to be developed between Bundoran and Kinlough.
Cllr Justin Warnock (FF) tabled a motion at the Manorhamilton Municipal District meeting of Leitrim County Council this week.
He pointed out the dangers of walking along the 3km road in its current state, with around 600 metres of the route being particularly hazardous because of a number of very dangerous bends, “some of the worst in the county”.
With the huge numbers of visitors to Bundoran every summer, he added, there would be great potential to entice tourists to explore Kinlough and the Glens of Leitrim as well.
Cllr Warnock is also seeking funding for new bridges in Kinlough (see page 8). He told the Democrat yesterday monies for walking and cycling paths would be sourced from a different funding scheme.
