Woman rescued from house fire in Donegal town

A woman was rescued from her home in Donegal town after a blaze broke out yesterday afternoon.

The fire service, ambulance and gardaí all assisted at the scene of the fire, which a garda spokesperson said was reported at 4.35pm. He gave the address as Marian Villas, however local residents gave the address as The Mullins.

The garda spokesperson said: “One of the lads had to go into the house to bring out a female resident. She was taken by ambulance to Letterkenny General Hospital.”

He described the damage to the semi-detached house as “extensive”.

The scene is being preserved for technical examination, which will be carried out today.

Gardaí ask anyone who may have noticed anyhing unusual in the area around the time the fire broke out, or who may have any other information, to contact them at Donegal Garda Station on 972 1021.
