White Collar left outside the ring

No white collar stuff here - this is for real

The ballroom of the Great Northern Hotel in Bundoran was packed to capacity on Saturday night last as up on 700 fans gathered to watch the Aodh Ruadh Club from Ballyshannon take on their south western counterparts Killybegs in a fundraising event for both clubs.

Normally one expects these to be rather tame affairs, often referred to as “White Collar events” but the white collars were very definitely left outside the ring on Saturday night as fighters from both clubs showed a competitive streak that you would only see in the National Stadium.

Jim McGuinness is often quoted as saying “Never leave anything on the field” - these lads and lassies have obviously been taking heed leaving nothing in the ring after some great bouts which had the crowd on their feet on numerous occasions.

The very capable Sean Perry was MC for the evening and brought his own inimitable style to the event really getting the crowd behind the boxers who fought hard but fair throughout the night.

While all the bouts were closely contested Killybegs had the upper hand on the night but no doubt Aodh Ruadh will now be in strict training regime for the return event which takes place in the Blue Haven Hotel in a few weeks time.
