Two in court appearance over Falcarragh incident

Two people appeared in Letterkenny District Court today in relation to an alleged assault in Falcarragh at the weekend.

20-year-old Stephen O’Donnell of Cnoc Fola, Brinaleck was charged with assault at Main St, Falcarragh.

The other person, a juvenile, cannot be named for legal reasons was also charged in relation to the alleged incident.

O’Donnell was arrested at 10.20am on March 19 and brought to Glenties Garda Station where he made no reply when formally charged at 6.50pm, Sergeant Martin Roachford told the court.

Garda Inspector David Kelly said they were not objecting to bail, but sought a number of conditions including a curfew from midnight to 8am, the accused sign on once a week at Falcarragh Garda station, that he not interfere with any witnesses and that he stay at his current address.

The other person who appeared in connection with the incident was a juvenile who was also released on bail with similar bail conditions.

Inspector Kelly asked the court to allow for a two month adjournment in the case as further charges may arise.

The case relates to an incident in Falcarragh on St Patrick’s night during which a man was seriously injured.
