Tragedy strikes again

The people of Manorcunningham and surrounding areas are in shock with news that tragedy has struck a local family for the second time. Last Thursday at 7.45pm, Ryan Boyle was killed in a crash in Lingfield, Surrey.

The 18-year-old, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was the sole occupant of a Lexus which was involved in collisions with three other vehicles, according to Surrey police. The occupants of the other vehicles were taken to hospital, where one was treated for serious, but not life-threatening injuries, and another for minor injures. Ryan had been travelling back and forth to London to work with his great-uncle Martin on road projects.

This is the second time that Karina Boyle, who now lives in Derry, has lost a son in a car accident. In October 2008, Noel Manus Boyle, who was aged 16, died when the car he was driving was in collision with a van at Moyle near Newtowncunningham.

A relative said yesterday that the family are “completely devastated”. He added: “Our hearts are breaking for Karina and wee Jordan, who is just 12.”

Arrangements have not yet been confirmed, but it is understood that the funeral will be held at St Columba’s, Dromoghill, where Noel was also laid to rest.
