Tea in Creeslough proves the perfect brew for charity

The annual Alzheimers Tea Day in Pat McCarry's home in Cashelmore, Creeslough was a great success thanks to the wonderful support from everybody who came along on the day, people who sent in contributions, gifts of home baking and the helpers who were very busy. A total of €2000 was raised and this money will be presented to Alastair Mc Kinney of the Donegal Alzheimers Association.

Special thanks to the Kildarragh Rose, Rosaleen McLaughlin, Derryherriff for coming to the party and helping out.

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia; it is a degenerative brain disorder caused when a plaque forms on the brain inhibiting the transmission of signals between the various parts of the brain.

The youngest case known to ASI Donegal Branch in this county is a diagnosis at 37 years of age. They are also aware of a case at 18 years of age elsewhere in the north-west.

For more information about the disease call the ASI Confidential Helpline on 1 800 361 361 or visit www.alzheimer.ie.

Special events like this annual tea party do help make a difference for those affected.
