Swimathon for Crumlin Hospital

Swimathon for Crumlin Hospital

by Matt Britton

Last weekend the impressive swimming pool in Jackson's Hotel in Ballybofey was used for a very worthwhile cause to raise very valuable funds for the top children's hospital in the country.

Joe Jackson of Jackson's Hotel said, "The event was a tremendous success and it is great to see such a worthwhile cause benefiting.

"We had more than 45 people taking part including national champions Donal Sweeney and Danielle Preston and at the moment we have raised €3K and we're still counting.

"The funds raised will help support life saving research, helping our nations children and their families to have state of the art equipment and facilities in the most comfortable environs of Ireland's largest children's hospital Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin.

"It will also improve the quality for future generations by supporting investigations into childhood illness and diseases at the National Children's Research Centre.

"The staff at Jacksons Leisure Club would like to say a huge thank you to all the members of Jacksons Leisure Club for generosity and support for the event and also to the residents of Donegal who took part and pledged.

"This was the first year to hold our 24 - hour swimathon at Jacksons Leisure Club and it certainly wont be the last," concluded Mr Jackson
