Snow on high ground is predicted by Met Eireann for Monday, with strong locally gale-force westerly winds also forecast.
Met Eireann has issued a weather alert for Monday to Wednesday but cold conditions may well extend into next weekend.
Although heavy snow falls are not expected, other than on high ground, Monday will be cold and very windy and in general the early part of the week promises a return to very cold weather.
The showers will be heavy with hail or sleet and a risk of thunder. Top temperatures of just 4-6 degrees Celsius with strong locally gale-force westerly winds.
