Small drop in number on live register

The number of people on the live register in Donegal has dropped slightly in the last 12 months.

According to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) there were 20,905 people on the Live Register at the end of January.

The figure is up just three from December and is down from 21,567 since last January.

The biggest drop was in Killybegs where the number on the register fell from 1,284 a year ago to 960. In Letterkenny the figure rose from 5,978 last January to 6,005. In Ballyshannon the figure rose slightly to 1,592 from 1,581 while in Ballybofey there was just one person added to the 2,674 on the register.

In Dungloe the live register fell from 2,247 to 2,144 in 12 months while in Dunfanaghy the figure fell slightly from 1660 to 1,628.
