Sea Dump Donegal campaign meeting
Over the years, it has been widely speculated that materials were being disposed of in the sea off the coast of Donegal and tonight the issue will be discussed at a meeting Falcarragh.
The Sea Dump Donegal campaign was established by Aodán Ó Gallchóir last year and this meeting will mark the first of many meetings that will be held in the coastal Gaeltacht area. The meeting will take place in the Yard at 7pm. It is hoped that those gathered will be able to address the issues relating to the issue and help provide eye witness accounts and materials that may help the campaign with their investigation. One eye witness account which was heard on Raidío na Gaeltachta has outlined how the bottom of the sea was awash with barrels marked with X’s during a diving expedition many years ago.
The man who wishes not be named said that he was exceptionally shocked at the find. It is assumed that the barrels may have since rusted under the sea.
“On the evening, we will draft a plan for the Cloughaneely branch and a proposed plan for the campaign during the months ahead. These stories have circulated around Donegal for generations and we intend to investigate them. I also hope to correlate the findings with statistics and notes that I myself have,” Mr Ó’Gallchóir said.
