The hills are alive as Donegal have won the All-Ireland championship after defeating Mayo 2-11 to 0-13.

Donegal got off to a dream start when, following a ball in by Karl Lacey on three minutes, Michael Murphy won the ball and smashed an unstoppable shot past David Clarke. It got better for Donegal minutes later when Colm McFadden slammed home a second after Patrick McBrearty’s pop at a point came back off the upright.

However, Mayo finished the half strongly and by the break Donegal led 2-4 to 0-7.

The second half was a tit for tat affair but Donegal, thanks to the likes of Murphy and McFadden, maintained their lead to clinch an historic second All-Ireland title in their history.
