A world rugby legend will visit the north west to open new sports facilities in the county next month.

Former All-Black player and  New Zealand Rugby Union President, Bryan Williams MBE, will travel to Letterkenny on Saturday, November 3rd to officially open the Dave Gallaher Memorial Park and clubroom at Letterkenny Rugby Club.

He will be in Europe with the All -Blacks as they embark on their winter tour. Although they will not be travelling to Ireland as part of their playing schedule, Mr. Williams will make his way to open the club’s facilities, coach a club session as well as enjoy a feast of local rugby while he is in the county.

The All-Black team named the Letterkenny rugby facility after the legendary Irish man when they visited the county in 2005.

Williams’ international rugby career lasted from 1970 to 1978 in which he played 113 matches, including 38 international Tests. As an All-Black player, he scored 66 tries.

He is the current the coach of the Samoan national team.
