Road closed following traffic accident

There has been major traffic disruption today on one of the county’s busiest roads following a serious traffic accident.

The drivers of two cars have been taken to Letterkenny General Hospital following a collision at Callan junction on the N13 between Letterkenny and Ballybofey just before midnight on Wednesday night. One of the injured is in his late teens while the other is in his early 30s.

A section of the main Letterkenny to Ballybofey road has been closed from Kilross to the Dry Arch roundabout in Letterkenny as gardaí examine the scene. Traffic is being diverted via Raphoe and Convoy.

Diversions are in place but many back roads in the Stranorlar and Convoy areas were choc-a-bloc with commuters on Thursday morning.

Gardaí say the road is expected to be closed until this afternoon.
