Praise for swift action over illegal dump in Bundoran

Bundoran Town Councillor Diarmaid Doherty has today welcomed the quick action by Donegal County Council in removing illegally dumped waste just outside Bundoran.
The Sinn Féin Cllr. said: “I would like to commend the Donegal County Council Environmental Department for their swift response in removing illegally dumped waste on the old Kinlough to Bundoran road.
“The issue of illegal dumping is one that I have raised consistently in the local media and I am glad to see that the County Council are taking complaints seriously and are working hard to preserve our local environment for all the community to enjoy.
“It appears from the quantity and type of waste removed that the waste is being dumped from business premises. While I accept in this climate many small businesses are struggling to survive, it is not acceptable to dump waste illegally.
“I have been informed by Council Officials that they will do all in their power to apprehend those involved.
“I am glad that the Council will investigate this matter further and I would encourage any members of the community who are aware of illegal dumping to make their concerns known to the Council,” he concluded.
