Over 50% of Udaras buildings currently lying empty
Sinn Fein's Pearse Doherty, TD for Donegal South West
A Donegal TD has described the fact that 54% of Udaras na Gaeltachta premises in the Gaeltacht areas as an absolute scandal especially when individuals with limited resources are trying to start up their own businesses but are often prevented by excessive rents and suitable locations.
Speaking to the Donegal Democrat, Pearse Doherty said, “54% of all Údarás na Gaeltachta units in the Donegal Gaeltacht are lying empty, that is 67 units in total. The highest number of vacant units is in the parish of Gweedore with 26, Cloughaneely is the next highest with 15 and Kilcar/Carrick has ten empty units
