Objection against N56 project withdrawn

The last objection to a compulsory purchase order (CPO) for planned improvements to the N56 between Dungloe and Lettermacaward was withdrawn today, during an An Bord Pleanála oral hearing in Dungloe.

The N56 project involves the design and construction of about 27 kilometres of new national secondary road from Dungloe to the Kilraine junction south of Glenties. The scheme also includes a cycle track for the full length.

Today’s hearing, held in a function room at the Daniel O’Donnell Visitors Centre in Dungloe, related to an objection to the CPO for the section of the project from Dungloe to Cloghbolie.

“I’m quite happy that the objections have been resolved,” said Brendan O’Donnell, senior executive engineer with the Donegal National Roads Design Office.
