Non nationals fined for fishing eels
Two non nationals were fined at Ballyshannon District Court last Friday for illegally fishing eels in Lough Melvin. Before the court, Dariuzm Miraszewski, Main Street, Milford and Maciej Larionow 2 Lawn View, Kinlough were apprehended on Lough Melvin on the 16th August last year, by Northern Regional Fisheries Officers, Hugh John Patton, Michael Kane, Michael Patton and Hugh Gillespie.
The court heard the two men were found to be in possession of six eels. Responding to Judge Kevin Kilrane, both men said they were unaware that it was illegal to fish for eels. Judge Kilrane fined both men 20 euro plus 400 euro costs each to be paid.
