Before Christmas Jim McGuinness dropped a clear hint that the party was slowly coming to an end and the New Year would soon see the lads in green and gold back to the grindstone.

True to his word the Donegal manager and the lads had a good workout on the golden sands of Dubai with temperatures in the high 20’s - not exactly what they will experience in Brewster Park next week in their encounter with Fermanagh in their first game of the Dr. McKenna Cup.

The lads are there with their wives and partners and enjoyed a great New Year’s Eve party at the world famous Sandance Party on Dubai’s golden sands.

The party was hosted by Zane Lowe from the BBC and included a really top class line up including Ellie Goulding, Rita Ora, Roger Sanchez as well as a spectacular fireworks display.

For Naomh Brid’s David Walsh it was a far cry from the sands of the beach in Rossnowlagh where he celebrated with his club at their annual dinner dance at the weekend. No doubt the lads will be in fine fettle for their first competitive match of the year next week.
