Diversions are in place on the N15 between Laghey and Ballintra following a two vehicle collision.

Garda Inspector Denis Joyce told the Donegal Democrat that gardaí and emergency services responded to a call at around 10.45am.

“There was a collision between a commercial van and a rigid lorry with a trailer about one mile north of the main Ballintra exit.

“The vehicles were travelling in opposite directions.”

“One person, a driver of one of the vehicles, was taken by ambulance to Sligo General Hospital”.

Insp. Joyce said he was not able to comment on the condition of the injured driver.

The road is likely to remain closed for a number of hours, he added, pending the arrival of a Garda Technical Team and to allow for them to carry out their examinations of the scene.

Diversions are in place. Drivers are asked to use caution on the back road.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them on 071 985 8530.
