set to attract literary lovers to Ballybofey
The New Year will get off to a flyer for local book lovers with ‘House of Books' in Ballybofey holding its first Monthly Bookfair of the year on New Year's Day, Saturday, January 1st.
As usual the event will be of great interest to connoisseurs of books, old and new. A vast array of hard-to-get titles will be made available on the day. The rarest of rare books of Donegal interest and wider interest will be on sale.
Titles of local interest at this month's bookfair will include: a rare signed copy of ‘A History of Landlordism in Donegal' by Prionnsias 'Gallchobhair; ‘A Souvenir of the First Civic Week in County Donegal 28th April to 5th May; ‘An Toastal Souvenir Programme Ballybofey and Stranorlar 1953 (included black and white photographs); ‘Footprints through The Rosses by Donncha Devenney; and ‘Arranmore Links' by Barney Gallagher.
There will be two very unique titles available: ‘Most Rev. James McDevitt: A Memoir from 1880' by Rev. John McDevitt; the other is ‘Michael Collins and the making of a new Ireland' (1926) - considered the most sought after book on the Big Fellow.
As usual the Monthly Bookfair at ‘House of Books' will be in aid of the Irish Wheelchair Asssociation (IWA). Readers may wish to note that the ‘House Of Books' provide a book-binding and restoration service - the only one in the county in fact - every Wednesday.
