A young man has been brought to the Mater Hospital in Dublin after he sustained serious injuries in an incident on the Port Road in Letterkenny in the early hours of Thursday morning.

It is understood that a dispute did take place outside the Port Road take away shortly before 3.45 am. The young man is understood to have sustained the injuries in the fall as he ran from the scene. It is not believed the man was involved in the altercation or that he was attacked. The man was taken to Letterkenny General Hospital but has since been transferred to the Mater Hospital in Dublin. It is understood the young man suffered head and spinal injuries. Gardaí are viewing CCTV footage from the area.
